Taylor Made R7 Driver

By ·

Having the Taylor Made r7 driver in your bag won’t make you the next Tiger Woods, but it will help you improve your golf game.

While the right driver may not allow you to suddenly hit the ball 350 yards directly down the center of the fairway, it will significantly improve your performance from the tee. This is where the Taylor Made r7 driver comes into play.

The reason for this is simple: if you are using inferior clubs you aren’t going to get the little extra “oomph” that high quality clubs will give you, whether it’s distance OR a forgiving club that helps straighten out your bad shots.

And that is why everyone from professional golfers to the weekend warriors have come to trust Taylor Made when they are out there on the tee. Read the rest of this entry »

Callaway X20 Irons

By ·

The Callaway X20 Irons are well put together golf clubs, but like any set of golf clubs, the X20 Irons have their positives and their drawbacks, depending on the type of player you are and how you hit the ball.

Callaway produces both the X20 and the X20 Tour, a club marketed as a ‘player’s club’, ie, for someone with a low handicap.

The regular X20 is designed to correct a common flaw among most golfers out there, limiting the dreaded slice. It is also designed for slower swing speeds.

If you’re constantly looking for golf tips on how to correct your slice, these irons may be for you!

For most of us, these are two very positive elements of the Callaway X20 Irons.

Both versions of these irons come with multiple shaft and flex choices such as roject X Rifle and Dynamic Gold steel. You can also choose from different graphite shafts going from lightweight to extra stiff.

The stability of Callaway’s weighting system with these clubs allows you to hit straight, solid golf shots.

There’s a bigger sweet spot which allows even off-center hits to fly straighter and longer.

In addition, the feedback from the club in your hands allows you to know for sure what shots you hit off center and to correct it.

The negative of a club like the X20 irons is that it is more difficult to work the shot with draws and fades from left to right.

Of course, most of us don’t ever think of hitting a golf shot straight as a negative but for you high and mighty golfers out there, the Callaway X20 irons may not be for you if you work the ball a lot on your iron shots.

While not cheap, the X20 is a solid set of irons that can help improve the play of almost any golfer, no matter your handicap. But again, if you really work your iron shots, you might want to take a pass on these clubs.

What Is A Belly Putter Golf Club And Will It Improve Your Putting Game?

By ·

A belly putter golf club is a type of putter that a shaft that is longer than a traditional putter.

belly putter golf

It gets the name belly putter because the golfer secures the longer shaft against his or her stomach, while putting.

Securing the putter in this fashion serves as a fulcrum for the putting stroke. You still use a traditional two-handed putting stroke and putting posture.

By connecting the putting shaft to your stomach you are able to stabilize the wrists, keeping them stiff and steady and not involving them in the putting stroke.

Belly putters look a lot more like a traditional putter than long putters.

Unless you are really paying attention you may not notice someone using a belly putter but you’d notice a long putter instantly.

Golfers like Fred Couples, VJ Singh and Paul Azinger use the belly putter to great success.

Belly putters anchor the end of the shaft against the abdomen, taking the wrists out of play while allowing for an accurate pendulum stroke.

“The belly is a really good putter for someone who has a nervous wrists or hands, or I hate to even say it, but if they have the yips,” said Bob Bettinardi, founder of Bettinardi Golf, which makes Ben Hogan putters for Callaway Golf.

“Bernhard Langer is the most renowned for the yips. He stuck the shaft right in stomach and eliminated some of that. Now he’s onto the long putter.

“We seem to need more help as we get older,” Bettinardi joked. “The progression with age is: standard putter, belly, then long.”

If you struggle with too much wrist action in your putting stroke a belly putter golf club may be just what you’re looking for.
